I can't set Race 07 and none of its expansions to run in windowed mode. I have a Full HD monitor but would like to play @ 1366x768 due to perfomance and convenience reasons. The issue is that the game will start in full screen mode even if I tick the 'windowed' box in the launcher. GTR2 and all other games on Steam, such as Counter-Strike:GO and GTA IV, start normally in windowed mode, so it's not my display's fault.I tried:1)-ticking windowed mode in launcher;2)-manually editing config.ini files in 'C:UsersDocumentsSimBinRACE 07' and setting 'WINDOWEDMODE=1' (I even set it as read-only);3)-adding '-windowed' parameter to the game launch optionsBut none worked, the game still starts in fullscreen.
Even though the game starts in fullscreen, the resolution is actually the one I choose, not the native one (1080p) of the display. I can confirm that because setting a resolution like 1280x800 (16:10 aspect ratio) will make the screen pixelated (due to lower resolution than native), as well as showing two vertical bars (pillaboxed) due to resolution having a different aspect ratio than the native one from the monitor (16:9).So, is there any magic to make this damn game start in windowed mode? In 'RACE 07 Configurations' menu,- Resolution: please select '1280x720 32bit' or '1920x1080 32bit' because most of the video cards & the games support these resolutions.(And I remember some resolutions did not work with Windowed Mode on my old PC (Win XP), either.)- Check the 'Windowed Mode' box.And click on 'Ok'.9. The funny thing is that older SimBin titles (GT Legends, GTR2) work fine.
Maybe it's the integration with Steam which is causing this. It's frustrating to purchase a game where it doesn't work 100%, I don't know how hard is to make your games start in windowed mode. But now that SimBin doesn't even exist anymore, I guess this will never be fixed.If any other Race 07/GTR Evolution player is reading this thread, please tell me whether windowed mode works or not for you, I would be very grateful. And if a Sector 3 Studios developer also reads this, please tell me how to play this game in windowed mode.
