How To Program Multiple Garage Door Openers Liftmaster
I ordered a Craftsman 3 function compact remote control to replace the one I lost. It came with instructions to program it. I programmed the door and everything worked fine. I then decided to program my 2nd door (2 door garage) on one of the other buttons. I did this successfully but now whenever I hit any of the buttons both doors open. I need to just have 1 button open 1 door. The garage door opener is model number is 1 and the serial number is.

The new remote is 130.30499. Unfortunately, that did not answer my question. I programmed each garage door opener separately using different buttons. Now both doors open whenever I press any of the buttons. I would like to have 1 button open 1 door independently of the other. When I did the first door and opened it, the other door did not open. After I programmed the 2nd door is when the problem with both doors opening.
The remote opener is a Craftsman compact remote model number 30499. I don't see how they could be the same frequency since it didn't happen until I programmed the 2nd door.
How To Program Multiple Garage Door Opener Remotes
At this point I would be satisfied to clear the programming and just do the 1 door. I know that it can be very frustrating when you are trying to program your garage door opener remote. The remotes transmits a code to the receiver on the power head, then the receiver sends a signal back asking for a code from the remote. The remote then transmits the code.
During this process the two door openers might get confused. These remotes have three positions, allowing you to open as many as three doors from one remote. I would suggest that you erase all of the code from the second opener and then reprogram it. This should provide a different code for the second opener. I hope this helps. We also have separate pages for the and.To program your car or vehicle garage door transmitters you should use the supplied by Homelink which is part of Johnson Controls. The days of setting code switches on your garage door opener transmitter to match the switches on the garage door opener receiver has went by the wayside 15-20 years ago. Once the FCC limited the number of frequencies the manufacturers could use there were simply too many that were being set to the same code which caused security problems.Once all of the transmitters from the same company were set to the same frequency there were simply too many instances of neighbors and strangers being able to open a number of different doors in their community. First many people simply left them at the factory default setting since they worked out of the box even though some set every opener they made to the same code. The other problem was that many people that did change the code simply set the codes by switching every other dip switch. Therefore even though they did change the code they were changing it to be the same as many other people.
We even use to occasionally run test in neighborhoods by driving down the street to see how many doors we could open. Sometimes the numbers were actually surprising. Therefore the solution to resolving the issue was to give each transmitters it’s own unique unchangeable code at the factory and to never duplicate the same code twice. That means that there are literally over a billion different code possibilities.
Once the garage door transmitters no longer had switches to set to match the opener, the openers needed a way to “learn” the factory preset code from each individual remote instead.By pressing & holding the learn & smart button it will erase all of the memory in case you should lose one of the transmitters or forget to remove them from a vehicle before selling or trading in it. Once the memory is erased you simply use the learn button again to code all of your existing remotes back into the unit.If you still are having problems getting your garage door opener transmitters programmed or have a model that is not explained on our site you can contact us for more information and we will try to get you the information you need or point out where the information can be found online.
